However, the Full Size Locking Steel Flush Door Latch part # L3980 matches your door cutout at 4-5/8" long x 3-3/8" so this is our best option. For the passive door, you can add the Cam-Action Lockable Door Latch Kit w/ Narrow Hasp for Small Enclosed Trailers - Zinc-Plated Steel # 383200 to keep that side door locked while the other is open. In order to find a suitable replacement latch for your horse trailer you need to remove the old latch and measure the cutout as that's then going to tell you a compatible replacement. The Bauer Products Manger Door Lock for Horse Trailers part # BA55FR is possibly a solution. It fits a cutout of 2-3/4" wide x 3-3/4" tall. It's unlikely you'll find an exact match so you may very well need to modify the opening to make a latch work.

I believe I know what is happening. It sounds like your door latches are at the middle of your door which leaves the top of the door slightly open.
You could use a Universal Cam-Door Lock for Enclosed Trailers # like what you referenced. I would run it across the top lip of your trailer ramp so that it will secure the top of the door as well. Depending on the setup you might consider leaving your current latches and then install a # 383200 as well.

The handle and latch we currently offer is the Universal cam-door lock # 383200 for enclosed trailers. The handles measures 13-3/4 inches long so it may be a little long for your trailer.
If you don't have a pipe, you will need a 3/4-inch inner diameter one.
If you need to hold your trailer doors open, you can use the Redline enclosed trailer part # PLR64-66. It will create a gap between the door and trailer of 2-5/8 inches.
